Our Green Practices

“Here at the Blowing Rock Inn we are doing the following Green Practices to protect the natural resources of the earth.”

  • squirrel1We have a recycle program in effect which includes having recycling bins in each of our Inn Rooms and Villas
  • We have put signs in all our bathrooms asking guest to consider using towels more than once to help lower the amount of laundry for the property which in turn lowers our use of water and detergent
  • We¬†use compact fluorescent bulbs to be more energy efficient
  • All of our showers use water saving shower heads that still maintain good water pressure
  • During remodeling of our bathrooms – all fixtures were updated to water savers
  • We no longer have traditional hot water tanks but have replaced them with Rinnai continuous flow water heaters
  • We have installed 3 – 80 gallon rain barrels which we use to water all of our landscaping
  • We plant native plants and shrubby whenever possible in our landscaping
  • As of May 2011 our property became a National Wildlife Habitat
  • We are listed as a NC Birder Friendly Property
  • We were nominated by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce for 2010 as a Green Business
