US Hwy 321 between Lenior, NC and Blowing Rock, NC is in the process of being widened to four lanes. During this construction time the NCDOT is making every effort to make your journey as smooth as possible by imposing the following construction restrictions:

• The only times the road may be completely closed for construction are on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Noon and 2 PM. Construction is permitted at other times, but must not delay traffic for more than 15 minutes. Although the road may be closed during these times, the construction schedule may allow for the road to open.
• To allow rush hour and holiday traffic to flow smoothly, lane closures are not permitted between 4 PM and 6 PM Monday through Friday, nor during holidays and major event times.

During the road closings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, please use the following detour route:

• Take NC 18 to US Hwy 421 in Wilkesboro, NC. Follow US Hwy 421 North to US Hwy 321 in Boone, NC.
• US Hwy 321 leads to Blowing Rock, NC
